We received excellent reports from all the doctors this week. Gay and I commented on the Glory of God unfolding before our eyes. Two months ago, we were hearing only gloom and that we should plan to amputate her leg. BUT GOD…
Today, those same people are laying out a plan that ends with Gay walking on the legs God gave her. He is a mighty God of restoration and resurrection. The following is an update on what we have left to accomplish.
On March 11, Gay will have another surgery that will remove the external fixator. We will be delighted to see this removed from our life. I have not published pictures of this because they are too gruesome and graphic to share. We anticipate the surgery to be outpatient, and Gay will be resting at home by early afternoon. The Doctor told Gay, “You will wake up with this gone and cast on your foot and ankle.” Still, there is no weight bearing on her left foot
On or about March 25, Gay will have the final surgery in this process. They will put a permanent internal fixator on her left ankle. This will provide a stable foot and should prevent future problems. She is still unable to bear weight on her foot, but we will be able to travel to EMIF Convene and see our sweet home, Alabama, in April. Hope to see you all there.
On or about May 16, she will have the cast from the last surgery removed and will be able to bear weight on her left foot for the first time since December of 2023. That is when Gay can wear shoes for the first time. The report from the doctor is that he expects complete success and that Gay will be able to return to normal functions. We are expecting not just a full recovery but to be better. This is how it works out when God touches your life… he is not a God that helps you “Get Through”; he is a God who takes us from Glory to more glory.
So all of us, with faces unveiled, see as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, and we are being changed into his very image, from one degree of glory to the next, by Adonai the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18
God has a beautiful Summer planned, and we plan to be in it. Won’t you join us at one of the Married Couples Bible Studies or at Gathering 2024 in Seymour or call us to let us know what God is doing in your life? We would enjoy seeing you and celebrating with you.
Be blessed,
Chris and Gay Broughton
